Eden Lake is a rare gem. A film that manages to shock, and captivate your attention from the start. Shunning hollywood special effects it follows a young couple as they take a weekend break on the shores of the namesake lake

 

Things turn from good to bad quickly when a group of chavs turn up, drinking and generally acting in an ASBO deserving manner.

 

Without spoiling too many things, the film shows how out of control teenagers are, as the couple as subjected to a brutal and terrifying ordeal.

 

Without getting boring the film manages to portray the teenagers in a very realistic manner, avoiding making them completely evil, you quickly learn their motivations and the background story.

 

Be warned, this doesnt have a hollywood ending and there are a few stomach churning scenes.
