Aeon flux reviewAeon Flux is a futuristic action flick staring Charlize Theron. The film is set in the year 2415, following a devasting plague known as the Industrial Disesase which killed 99% of the worlds population, there is only one remaining city on the planet, Bregna. Bregna is a place of absolute control, where Trevor Goodchild, a descendant of the scientist who cured the disease, rules. However, as one would expect, not all is as it seems. The Monicans are a group of rebels who seek to overthrow Goodchild. Enter Aeon Flux, billed as the ultimate assasin and weapon of the rebellion. Aeon Flux is flawed from the start. Sequence after sequence of the film exists only to show us what a great assasin Theron is. While visually stunning it adds nothing to the plot, and infact detracts from it. Theron is out of her depth from the start, struggling to display the layers that the Aeon character has in the Manga films. The plot itself is interesting and they would have done well to explore it a little more. This is a thinly vieled vehicle for Theron to try herself out as an action star, which she fails at. Best to avoid this disappointment. |
